Wal-Mart= evil?

So, I was reading in the newspaper how Wal-Mart is actually hurting the American economy. It seems so ironic because, to me, Wally World has always been a source of cheap stuff. One would think that by purchasing cheap items, they would save money, which would actually help the economy...but, that is not so. Apparently, Wally World is costing the American tax payers $1,548,225,406 since January 2005! I was appalled! Go to this website to find out for yourself...

The political movement against Wal-Mart is a strange thing. Wal-Mart is a successful company in the marketplace and the marketplace is antithetical to compulsion: no employee has to work there, no vendor has to sell to them, no customer has to buy there.

The "costs" outlined at the link are fanciful. Wal-Mart operates ethically under the legal and regulatory strictures of our society.

Hey, I personally "cost" the taxpayers a couple thou a year because I bought a house and take the mortgage interest deduction -- make me rent, in the public interest!

All the best to you and everyone at Agnes Scott, Steve Barton
