Greetings, Earthlings...

Hello all. Well, today has been a terrible Monday. Just pretty dang boring. People around Agnes have just been testy and not very friendly...yes, everybody. I am not sure why...maybe because midterms are quickly approaching, but it makes me want to leave campus for a long while and not come back. It's funny how things are really good for a while, then all of a sudden, bam, people are rude and mean again...liars too may I add...well, enough ranting...

This Saturday night we had our Sophomore Family Weekend and I got my Agnes ring...it's pretty. It looks alot better in real life...I promise! Anyways, besides that, this weekend was pretty dull. I hung around the house most of the time and slept in real late with Bobby...it was nice to just relax though. The gang at Agnes went to a Champagne party at Phi Tau...only it wasn't Champagne...cheap stuff apparently, so people were feeling extra bad...but, I'm glad they had a good time, and I wish I could have gone! BUT, there will be other times, I am sure. Today was dull as I mentioned earlier. Tomorrow morning I am heading to the dentist to get my bite guard readjusted...and it needs it because it's making me gag. Gross. I get my Physics test back tomorrow, so we'll see how I did. Wednesday hopefully I'll get to leave freakin' campus and see my Bobby! BUT, I have to take a film quiz in Poli Sci and do a history presentation before that can happen...bleck. Thursday I will devote to making history notecards and preparing for the midterm I nearly forgot about that is on Friday. Who knows what's going on this weekend, but I know I have to read...unfortunately and edit my English paper. Hopefully something fun will be going on (mmm Callie?). Well, we still haven't heard about the condo...and yes, I am aware that everybody is sick of hearing about it...but whatever, I don't care...I'm too excited and anxious about it. I just want it!! Ahh. Well, I can't wait for Spring Break...lots of seeing my buddy Callie and my child, Lily. I can't wait. Hopefully some fun times await.

Well, I haven't seen Katherine in a year and a half about, hah, so hopefully we'll see each other soon (K, call me!)...it's the end of February...just dragging and just a dull time of the year...blahhhhh. Ciao.

Raining on my parade...

Well, it's 5:52 on Wednesday afternoon, and it's raining, of course...perfect weather and conditions for bad news, right? Well, my mom just called me and said the broker isn't taking our first offer on the condo...he wants $2,300 more than what we offered. I'm very upset. We're going to put in another offer of about $1,000 more but that's still $1,300 less than what he wants...I really hope he accepts it. I really want this place. I've been so excited about it, and now this is really bad. I just want to lay in bed and eat chocolate...lots of chocolate. I feel like I've just been dumped...I really really hope it works out. Please hope for me and think about it, and I guess if you're religious, pray! If he doesn't take it...I'll be a wreck.

Well, I hope your Wednesday is better than mine...

New Chapter beginning

So, a new chapter is about to begin in my life. Today, my mom and I went to go look at a condo to buy in Oakhurst. It needs ALOT of work, but we have decided to buy it. It is a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom condo on the top level with 4 other units in one building. Currently, there are nasty floors, windows, and walls, so we alot to clean and fix up. We tore up some carpet today and saw that there are beautiful hardwood floors underneath all that nastiness. So, Project #1, refinish my hardwoods. Next, the speckly coating on the ceiling in the 2nd bedroom is coming off, so Project #2 is to tear off that nastiness and then paint the ceiling...prehaps install a ceiling fan. The bathroom has beautiful white ceramic tile on the floors, so all we need to do is bleach and clean the tile on the floor. The sink is okay and the cabinet holding the sink, but the bathtub needs to be glazed and refinished. We are getting a big shower head in there so I'll be spending my entire life in the shower...fun! There is a pink toilet seat on the toilet, so that's wierd and will be replaced. The towel rack is pink also...so wierd and ugly. Various other things will be replaced liked lighting fixtures and...alas...the kitchen floor. We're hoping that part of it will be hard wood underneath. OHH gosh, I am so excited! I'll keep you posted!

These facts bothers me greatly....

Normal:The average American family has 1.86 children. A baby is born every 8 seconds in America, and it's slightly more likely to be male.
How can you have 1.86 kids? I know it's an average, but you can't have half a kid...or .86 of a kid...sorry.

Extraordinary:Paying up to $4,000 to have someone else's hair attached to yours isn't too normal, although it is a growing fashion trend. The hair used for most of these extensions comes from Hindu pilgrims. The pilgrims cut off their hair as part of a funeral purification rite. Source: National Geographic, October 2004
This is just freakin' wierd. Sorry.

Extraordinary:Squatting. While illegal in the U.S. it's legal in the U.K. In fact, under British law, squatters are even entitled to electricity, water and other essential services.
Who needs a job? Let's go to the UK.

Extraordinary:Before toilet paper was invented, Americans used leaves, torn up newspaper and corncobs - yes corncobs - to take care of business. If you're still doing this, you are extraordinary.
...or just really wierd.

Thanksgiving in February

Here are some pictures:

Well, today I feel like I've eaten a Thanksgiving meal. I ate my 1st dinner at 5 in Evans...pizza and soup...yum. Then, Heather, Callie, and I ventured to Taco Mac in Decatur to meet up with Drew and Chuck "Sketch" Whiteside...it was actually alot of fun despite the anticipated "awkwardness." Drew is alot of fun to hang out with, so I was pleased.

Once I got back, I decided to head down to Alston to check out the "Red Light-Green Light" Mixer that was going on. It was hopping...not really. Then, I went to go eat my 3rd dinner of the night...at Olive Garden for Bobby's birthday. His family is crazy, I love them so much! We laugh and laugh the whole time...that's why I love them, they keep me down to Earth. All I ate was salad and breadsticks...and I felt I was going to puke. Mmm it was good though!

Now, I'm sitting here and contemplating what I am going to do for the rest of the night and tomorrow...breath and study. Seems to be a trend for me lately. I'm in my own universe lately and I am doing what I am doing to get by. I need to stop slacking.

Well, sianara (sp?) suckers...it's off to bed for me!

Best weekend ever!

Yes, you read it correctly, this was the best weekend ever! On Friday Bobby came down to good 'ole Agnes and ate lunch with me. Then we headed off to the Aquarium, which was should have an entire blog devoted to it, but it won't. To make a long story short, the fish were beautiful, the whales were amazing, and the crowds made me crazy. When we were looking at Nicco and Gaspar (2 of the 3 beluga whales) I got tired so I sat down on the end of a bench where a kid was laying at the other end up. Disgruntled, the kid sat up and looking at me and stalked away. Then, the kid's scrub of a sister came over, who was prob. like 5, and said, "Hey my brother was laying on that bench and you can't sit there." I snapped. Kids, don't fuck with me right now! I told her "Tough, I'm sitting here,"...and just snarled. Kids these days. The nerve!

Anyways, the picture above is Nicco...one of the beluga whales. She would literally come up to the glass and pose and interact with whoever is at the glass...it was pretty much amazing.

Saturday Saturday. Well, Bobby told me that he wanted me to go to a Norcross basketball game with his sister, Robin, and him, so I said yes. I headed out there around 5:30ish and noticed he was acting sketchy...not the regular Bob. So we headed off to an unknown destination, and to my surprise, Bobby had done pretty much the most romantic thing ever. We pulled up to a hotel where he had gotten us a room! When I walked in, there was a dozen pink and red roses waiting for me as well as my own 6 pack of Guinness (he wasn't trying to get me drunk, he just knew I was craving it ever since Ireland!). He kissed me and told me Happy Valentine's Day! We are starting this new tradition of celebrating it earlier because his birthday is on V-Day. He'll be getting his Waterford crystal shot glasses on that day...shhh don't tell him. Well, props to Bobby Faulk. I love that kid. I have the best boyfriend and best friend in the world...98% of the time anyways. We ordered a Hawaiian pizza from Mellow Mushroom and just snuggled and watched movies all night. It was so much fun!

To cap a wonderful weekend, Gray's Anatomy rocked my world. I love that show. Derek, McDreamy, just needs to tell Meredith he lovers her and scoop her into his arms and plant a big wet one on her face...and then drop Addison, but she's growing on me, so I dunno. Well, I'll be getting Season One soon in the mail, so I'll be watching that none-stop. I'll keep ya posted.

Blank.

So it's Tuesday night. I just completely bullshiotted a paper. I'm watching Roseanne. She's fat, pregnant, has bangs, just drank some sour milk, is eating some Cheez-Whiz, and wearing a Moo-Moo...life can't get any worse than that. Kill me if I end up like that...please.

I got a 99 and a 98 on my 1st two Geology labs...I'm pretty much a rock genious I suppose.

My Dad is coming to eat lunch with me tomorrow, and fix my printer, so that's exciting. We are finalizing plans on my apartment so I am so excited. If all goes as plans, I will be living in the Gables at Lenox Hills...do not be fooled, it's address is still off of Buford Hwy...but not the sketchy part, the part that is right at Lenox Rd. So yea, be excited...be very excited. Good things are to come...in the form of parties.

Things I like today:
yogurt
these things (...)
chicken sandwiches
my boyfriend
sedimentary rocks

Things I detest today:
Marion Kaplan
a pregnant Roseanne
the pathetic show, Wild -n- Out

I think I will take German.

So this is a lovely picture from this weekend. That's Jeff and Hannah...rugby friends. On Friday night, I went out to eat with Joe, Bobby, and Katie at Olive Garden...it was so yummy and it was fun to go out with friends. I got a mushroom and artichoke pizza and unlimited breaksticks (I avoided those) and salad...yummy. Ohhhh and I can't forget...spinach artichoke dip. Mmmm, I'm getting hungry...again... Anyways, on Saturday AM Bobby had to work, so that sucked, but I had fun on Saturday night with my two girlies Heather and Hannah at the Ga Tech Rugby house party (aka IHOR)...which is in a sketchy loft off of Northside Dr...but it was alot of fun. There were so many people there that it was nice. We finally left around 3 A.M. and naturally ate Taco Bell...don't even ask, of course I ate a Crunch-wrap Supreme! Then, I passed out. Sunday was fun too, after getting in a huge fight with Bob. I love him so much and we worked everything out so, phew. We watched the Superbowl at Zack's house and had a mini-party with Sue and the rest of the Gersh family. I tracked my geneology there too...my family, the Stegins, have only been in the U.S. since 1860...that's not even 150 years! We were originally spelling our last name as Stiegen, which is the German verb for "to climb." Hmm, interesting. But it was nice to find out about my roots...which came from Hanover, Germany and Saxony, Germany. I think I will take German 101 in the Fall...make my Grandma Jean happy...

Anyways, I must finish this paper that's due tomorrow...bleck. This week will suck until the Aquarium with my man on Friday. Ciao.

Laugh. Laugh.

A Mexican drinks his beer and suddenly throws his glass in the air, pulls out his pistol and shoots the glass to pieces. He says, "In Mexico our glasses so cheap we don't need to drink from the same glass twice." An Iraqi, obviously impressed by this, drinks his beer, throws his glass into the air, pulls out his AK-47 and shoots the glass to pieces. He says, "In Iraq we have so much sand to make glasses that we don't need to drink out of the same glass twice either." The Texas boy, cool as a cucumber, picks up his beer and drinks it, throws his glass into the air, pulls out his gun and shoots the Mexican and the Iraqi, and catches his glass. He says, "In America we have so many illegal Aliens that we don't have to drink with the same ones twice."
